Nurse Practitioner Vacancy · Albury
Full scope. Senior backing. Your life back.
This is the advanced-practice role most Nurse Practitioners are promised and rarely get: real autonomy, with a senior team around you every day — a GP-owned practice run by people who still see patients, experienced GPs who've built their care around NP involvement, admin who run the place like clockwork, and nurses who'll have your back. A salaried, employed position with an above-award salary. Daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with public holidays your own. Relocation supported.
- 38 hrs · Monday to Friday
- Public holidays & weekends off
- A senior GP team alongside you
- Meaningful episodic care
- Salaried employee role
A week as our NP
The patients who become yours.
Not a conveyor belt of health assessments and care plans. Real people, seen on the day, worked up properly — who come back to you. Tap through a week.
Leaving the frustrations of your current job behind
You know the frustrations. This role was built to answer them.
- Forever the senior clinician, working around junior doctors. You've built deep experience — then spent it steadying registrars who rotate out every few months. Here you work alongside senior GPs, consultant-level across a range of fields, and build genuine, lasting relationships with them.
- Used, but not developed. Too many roles reach for your scope when they're short-staffed and stop there. Here you're central and supported, with fortnightly practice meetings built around shared learning.
- Hours that leave little for a life. Whatever your week looks like now, here it's daytime, Monday to Friday — with public holidays and weekends genuinely your own, for family, travel and the things you keep putting off.
- The worry that general practice means the same day on repeat. It doesn't. No two days are alike and there's always something unfolding — general practice is far more interesting than its reputation lets on.
None of these are things you should have to put up with. Here, you don't.
What this role actually is
Real medicine, real difference — and consultants a door away.
This isn't a pile of health assessments and care plans. It's meaningful episodic care that genuinely changes people's lives — patients who need to be seen today, worked up properly, with a respected team of consultants beside you.
Care on the day
Patients who need to be seen today — assessed, worked up and managed by you, at full scope, the way you trained to.
Alongside senior GPs
Experienced doctors a door away, consultant-level across many fields. Talk any patient through with a GP whenever you'd value it — even their own regulars — and escalate care to them whenever that's the right call. The option is always there, and using it is simply good practice.
Patients who value you
Engaged patients who appreciate good advice and are willing to pay for it — many who come back to you, and some who ask for you by name.
You won't be doing this alone
You'd be joining a team that already knows how to work with an NP.
What makes advanced practice a pleasure rather than a grind is the team around you. Here that team is senior, settled, and already used to backing a Nurse Practitioner.
GP-owned and hands-on
Owner-run by a GP and a nurse who still see patients themselves. Having worked alongside Nurse Practitioners for the last 13 years across ED and general practice, we understand exactly what an experienced NP brings — and the excellent care they deliver for patients and the wider community.
Senior GPs alongside you
Experienced doctors with special interests spanning menopause and women's health, skin cancer, sexual health, occupational health, allergy and preventive medicine — who've built their care around NP involvement and want to work with you as a colleague.
Admin like clockwork
Senior administrative staff keep the clinic running smoothly, so your day is spent on patients rather than logistics.
Nurses in your corner
An experienced nursing team who looked to our previous NP for mentorship — and supported her extensively. That partnership is waiting for you.
Border General Practice is known as the region's premium practice — the one health professionals themselves choose for their own care.
That's the standard you'd be joining. And holding.
Why this works
For four and a half years, this model gave our Nurse Practitioner the autonomy, the support and the room to become genuinely central to how we care for patients. We're looking for the person to step into it next.
The team you'd join
- Owner-clinicians who understand the health landscape and back NP-led care.
- Senior GPs, consultant-level across many fields, plus an experienced nursing team.
- Fortnightly practice meetings built around shared learning.
- A Quality Practice Accredited clinic meeting RACGP Standards.
- The practice health professionals choose for their own care.
An honest word on fit
A wonderful role for the right clinician. Here's how to tell if that's you.
This is your role if…
- You care about keeping people well and out of hospital — and want to be part of a team that does
- You want to run your own patients at full scope, with senior colleagues close at hand
- You'd rather work alongside experienced, consultant-level GPs than steady rotating registrars
- You've missed continuity — knowing how the story ends, seeing the same faces improve
- Meaningful episodic care and genuine day-to-day variety sounds like the job you trained for
- Room to grow a special interest over time excites you
- Monday to Friday — with weekends and public holidays your own — sounds like a life
This may not be your role if…
- You want purely acute, shift-based emergency work (that's our urgent care centre's world, not this one)
- You specifically want a large team of NP peers rather than being the practice's advanced-practice lead
- A day of ticking through health assessments is your happy place
- You need a capital city on your doorstep — Albury's a regional city, and we're honest about that
- You're not yet endorsed, or not yet ready to work at full scope
And a life to go with it
Albury–Wodonga: live like you're on leave.
A regional city of 100,000 on the Murray, halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and closer to the snow than either — city comforts, none of the gridlock.
Weekends back
Monday to Friday, sociable hours. No overnights, no on-call. Time returned to the people who've been waiting for it.
Ten-minute everything
Your last patient to home, the river, or school pickup. The commute you stop noticing.
Snow, water & wine
Falls Creek and Hotham are a weekend, not an expedition. The Murray, Lake Hume, Rutherglen and Beechworth are a whim.
Real infrastructure
Base hospital, good public and private schools, an airport, and a family home for a fraction of a capital-city price.
Who we're hoping to hear from
An endorsed NP who's ready to be backed.
Your background might be emergency, or general practice, or both. What matters is that you're confident running your own patients at full scope, that you share our purpose — keeping people well and out of hospital — and that you'd relish doing it somewhere you're genuinely supported and valued. It's a salaried, employed role, and we're hoping to find someone who wants to be part of the team for the long run.
The offer, plainly
- A salaried, employed position — above-award salary.
- 38 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
- Public holidays and weekends your own.
- A senior GP team and experienced nurses alongside you.
- Fortnightly practice meetings and ongoing learning.
- Relocation support for the right person.
- Room to grow the special interests that become yours over time.
What we're really looking for
Someone who's here for the patients.
This is a salaried, employed role with an above-award salary — the security is there, so you can focus on the work rather than the numbers. What matters most to us is finding someone who shares what drives this practice: keeping people well and out of hospital, building genuine relationships with them over time, and helping a good practice stay healthy and flourishing. If that's the work you want to do, we should talk.
